Paul joined Miller Bernstein in 2008 as a principal, and was made a partner in 2012. As of 2020, Paul has retired as an active partner and now acts as a special consultant to the firm.

Paul Harvey has over 30 years experience in the accounting profession with a specialization in taxation issues. He has worked in both industry and public practice, including serving as in-house counsel for a major commercial real estate developer, as well as an income trust with international operations and ownership.

Paul’s industry experience involved tax compliance in sophisticated accounting environments, corporate reorganizations, leveraged buyouts, insolvency situations, U.S. tax and repatriation of off-shore earnings, and due diligence.  In public practice, he has provided real estate advisory and other services to private companies and their shareholders, pension funds, and public companies.

At Miller Bernstein, his areas of concentration have included:

  • Tax compliance
  • Tax appeals and intervening with tax authorities,
  • Developing and implementing innovative tax planning strategies for corporations and their owners,
  • Family estate and succession planning,
  • Cross-border personal and corporate tax planning,
  • GST and HST matters, and
  • In-house instruction on taxes for staff and partners

Paul graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1977 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1980.
