Staff Accountant Co-op
Miller Bernstein is seeking a highly motivated Staff Accountant co-op student who wants to experience public accounting firsthand. As a co-op student you will develop an understanding of the business and economic environment our clients operate in, work closely with our professional team and receive hands on training across a range of assurance, advisory and tax engagements.
We are a member of the CPA Ontario pre approved program, so a placement here counts toward the practical experience requirements for aspiring CPAs.
What you will do
- Assist professional team members in preparing assurance and tax files using Caseware, Caseview and Taxprep.
- Execute assigned tasks across a variety of engagements.
- Follow up on outstanding issues and help senior team members bring files to completion.
- Prepare personal and corporate tax returns.
- Take on other tasks as instructed.
What we are looking for
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, commerce or accounting.
- The intention of pursuing the CPA designation.
- Demonstrated academic excellence and leadership ability.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- The ability to thrive in an environment of dedicated client service.
- A proactive approach, with ownership of your assignments and consistent professionalism.
- Strong analytical skills and a systematic approach to solving problems.
